Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Upgrade components

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before being "leveled out."
