With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot automatic vacuum and mop robot/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task.
