Now That You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrades Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade items your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the Item level upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
