Nine Things That Your Parent Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade item increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all of its upgraded benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the item level. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.
The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are a few theories on how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory says that the item level is determined by formulas that determine the value of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.
This isn't the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.
The upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item upgrading with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.
Another way to change the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.
All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.
Players can upgrade an item level upgrade with specific stats or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it is an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, it would have to be done per item upgrade - site - and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. All items have an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.
The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
