With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one automatic vacuum cleaner and mop that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
