World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the item level. It's an indicator of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.

On your PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This is not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item upgrade (official site)'s haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by naming them.

At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.

Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it is a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade item successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and each item level upgrade with Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
