Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, gathering tools and weapons. They offer an added benefit or effect when the equipment in use. They can be purchased from players or vendors, looted or obtained as rewards, or constructed by crafting materials. Upgrade items can have cosmetic effects, in addition to giving bonus attributes.
Upgrade components can include inscriptions, enhancements and infusions. They aren't generally accessible to the general public and are only available on equipment that is ascended, or certain non-ascended weaponry from the Factions Campaign. Infusions can be recovered and inscriptions from your equipment using an Extractor Device, or by salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Like other upgrade products Phoenix Boxes, unlike other upgrade items, can be traded while still attached to the item that they are upgrading, and are able to be used again after being salvaged. These upgrade items can be used to increase weapon and armor quality, without spending Dilithium. They can double the chance that the item will receive a quality upgrade.
Upgrade components can be added to an item, however, the original one is destroyed (except for legendaries and ascended equipment). Upgrade components can only be added to upgraded items that have an identification level of zero or higher. The addition of an upgrade to a weapon that is already equipped with a prefix or suffix upgrade will display the name of the resulting item upgrading as it appears in the game (for example, adding an Radiant Insignia to Canthan Armor will cause it to be referred to as Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). A player can only have three upgrade items at one time.
Glyphs
Glyphs are an excellent addition to any item, since they provide many unique advantages and boosts. Some Glyphs increase the number of affixes an item has, increasing its effectiveness. These glyphs are acquired through working through dungeons. They can also be located in specific World Tier 3 zones. However, it's important to remember that glyphs cannot be used on a character that hasn't created an dungeon with a root with the same depth.
To make use of a Glyph you first have to create it with components and then connect them using anchors. The component will then automatically align with other components or paths within the same layer. If you don't want to create the glyph with components, you can make use of an array of paths and anchors. Drag an element in the direction of a component highlighted to lock it into the right spot.
Certain glyphs require specific conditions to be met, such as 25 Dexterity in a specific area on the Paragon Board. Some require a specific number of Primary Stat nodes to be activated which is sometimes difficult to achieve. Some glyphs have a radius, which increases as you move it up.
Glyphs are available for various items and can be added to all weapons, with the exception for the weapons of a particular class. Certain glyphs come with additional requirements, for example the requirement for a certain amount of damage to Dexterity or attack damage in a particular portion of the Paragon board.
The Defend Glyph gives you the chance to block enemy attacks. It also has a chance of 15%, making the Hero vulnerable for two turns.
Some glyphs can also be applied to limited tools, such as the Black Lion Chest and Trading Post. Adding these glyphs will contribute to the Combat Mechanic achievement.
The most popular glyphs used in the game are the attack ones which boost Artifacts' ATK substats by a fixed amount. They are especially useful for ranged classes like Warriors and Rogues. The Exploit Glyph renders enemies who attack the Hero vulnerable to damage.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are special tokens that can be used to roll back one of the results when performing an Action. After the reroll is completed they are discarded. Reroll tokens are obtained through a variety of ways, including through the dungeons, raids, and skirmishes. They can also be bought at the store or purchased from other players. They are particularly useful in dungeons and trials, since they allow players to reroll rewards at the end of the chest.
Recycle points are available for items at level 1. If an item is recycled it will add a certain amount of points to the gauge of upgrade. This is based on both the item's rarity and level. The upgraded item upgrader will also not keep its level when it is rerolled, and the cost to recycle an upgraded item increases as its level increases.
The player can also use reroll tokens to roll an item. However it will not bring back the item's original stats or level. This is a great option for players who want to reroll a product they aren't happy with but still would like to keep it in their collection.
There are three different types of upgrade tokens that are available in the game: reroll, random and upgrade. Each type has several subtypes. For instance, reroll tokens come in three different levels: enhanced, rare and legendary. Each requires an item upgrader kit of the respective level to produce a new item with the same quality.
To make use of reroll tokens right-click the Satanic or Angelic item in the inventory and select "Reroll Token". Then, select a kind of token. The tokens that are available include Item Weapon, Misc, 1hgun, 2hgun and Focus. Using an Item token will result in an entirely new item upgrade of any kind. A Weapon or Misc token can create a new weapon belonging to the same faction.
There is also the possibility that the item could be upgraded to a different item that has a higher level and the same additional stats. This is likely to occur if the item been placed in the Pool that is not droppable or if it was transferred to it as part of an franchise card.
