Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is robots that vacuum and mop it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot auto vacuum and mop to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.

It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
