Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The price of $1400 might be difficult to swallow, but it's often on sale to make it more affordable. The unit looks fantastic, and the base takes up little room in a corner.
The design of this robot is able to address some of the issues we've encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum units, such as the brushes becoming entangled in hair, or the brush being unable to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The performance of the sweeper on carpets and bare floors is also impressive. The vacuum/mop features a high-quality debris collection and the mop can quickly saturate bare flooring.
The mops use a smart system that cleans along the edges of walls, and around furniture. The robot can handle the largest obstacles such as food bowls, toys shoes, and backpacks without any issue. It is able to get tangled or stuck with smaller, more compact objects like shoelaces and USB cable, and pens.
We used this robot to clean and mop a variety of pile rugs, FLOR carpet tiles, and hardwood floors within an open, large floor layout. It was able to vacuum and mop the area of 90m2 in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.
Certain features differentiate this robot vacuum cleaner comparison from other robots in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous enhancements in software, sensors and hardware that keep it ahead of its class. It claims 3.5 hours of autonomy for environments up 260m2.
Freo's app allows you to alter various functions, such as how often the robot returns to its base station. You can also alter the frequency of mopping as well as the power level (silent or intelligent) or the mopping's humidity. The app is able to detect heavily soiled areas and design a clean route, as well as give detergent out or raise the pads on carpet.
Other impressive features include a quick charging battery, an easy-to-read display on the robot's bottom and a practical dock door that can be opened easily. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for home or apartment owners who want to cut down on their chores, while keeping their homes tidy and clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a reputation of quality and innovation in the world of robot vacuuming. This new robot aims to take it to the next level by incorporating smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.
The RX3 has a dual-suction system, intelligent mapping with 3D mapping, and cameras that send a real-time image to your smartphone. The RX3's powerful four-stage system is excellent for dust collection on carpets and hard floors. Side brushes can be swept out with dual suction channels, and easy-to-use controls keep corners clean. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under furniture that is low. Front cameras and infrared sensor assist in navigating obstacles, thresholds, and obstructions with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it cleaned baking powder near corners and baseboards. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than other robots but it moved quickly and was quiet. It did not mop and its clean pad was difficult to attach. It also couldn't handle dirt that was dried on.
Its app is a little on the basic side, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa however, its voice controls aren't precise or responsive. And it's also a little unreliable when it comes navigating its way back to the charging station after running -- other robots can follow a previous route or sensibly follow a wall around until they get to their destination, but the RX3 is a fumbler until it gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
We also had issues with the smart features of the device, such as its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs but it could easily be caught by cables and socks and couldn't handle the tassels on rug. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
