Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
